Wow, what a difference a week makes.
The second round of the Foundation Cup, sponsored by club President Len Leigh, was played in cool, blustery and rainy conditions. A good field of keen golfers braved the rain to try to improve on their last week's scores, a few failed to finish, and those that did looked a little frustrated and wet. In a close competition for the Cup, it was Jason Ward, whose two rounds of 74 and 72 just managed to pip Santo Cavallaro on the post.
The days competition, a single stroke, was sponsored by Phil Mihulka and Jason Ward. The winner of that competition, given the adverse weather conditions, was Bruce Green with a good score of 72. Runner up prize for the day, one stroke away, went to Jarrod Irwin.
Pin shots went to Matt Waterworth, Michael Thompson and Nathan Stibbard. Rodney Paye, Michael Thompson and Jarrod Irwin each collected a voucher for their approach shots.
Ladies braved the inclement weather and some didn’t finish the competition making the Ladies Foundation Cup winner a clear favourite Neta Thouard with a great 1st round 76 and 82.
Single stroke event in conjunction was won by Nikki Waterworth with a great score of 78. Runner up to Lisa Stuart.
Pin approach shots went to Lynette Ludlow, Lorraine Evans, Helen Jones and Mei Bell collecting a voucher.
Next week's event is a single stableford, sponsored by Jason Lawer.
The Member's Draw is now up to $210.
