The day’s play was sponsored by Aqua Rural, and the club are very appreciative of their support and prizes given.
Readers of this column, who are graced with a dignified amount of grey hair and with enough memory still intact, should at this moment begin to hum the song, ‘to dream the impossible dream’, because the late starters for Saturday’s competition were greeted with the news that the young Lochlan Hendry, who had played the early start time-slot, had posted an amazing Stableford score of 45 points. For most golfers, 36 points is a really good game and means that you played to your handicap. So, we ‘dreamed the impossible dream’ … ‘to fight the unbeatable foe’ … but it was, alas, an ‘impossible dream’. Try as we might, Lochie Hendry was unbeatable. Well done Lochlan on a standout performance. The field that dreamed that they could chase down Lochlan did incredibly well and deserve a mention with their scores. On a count back, Terry Roser came second with 38 points – a terrific game. Also playing out of their skin on 38 points were: Richard Goodrich, Rod Paye, Matt Macarthur, Michael Thompson and then 37 points to Scott Constable and Brent Irwin on 36. Champions all and well done. The Writer had the privilege of playing with Michael Thompson and witnessing an eagle on the 6th followed by two birdies.
Pro Pins and Pins went to Scott Constable, Nathan Stibbard, Brendon Barker, Lyle Bryant, Tom Page and Barry Jones.
Congratulations to the Ladies: Winner was, the never say die, Filomena Silver, pursued by Nikki Waterworth. Pins and Pro Pins to Lorraine Evans, Helen Jones and Filomena Silver.
Next Saturday’s sponsors are four of our very own ‘senior’ players affectionately known as ‘Dad’s Army.’
The Members Draw has jackpotted again and is now $170.
