The first Saturday of April was the monthly medal and putting competition for players at Stanthorpe Golf Club. A good field turned up for the day which was sponsored by club membet, Richard Reardon and we thank him for the day. Looking at the scores returned, it would appear that players fell into one of two categories, either quite good or struggle street.
Best score for the men’s division came from Ivan Juriss who had the low nett score, and winning score, of 68 nett. His back nine was very solid, 38 hits for that nine. Shawn Yates also had a good round and his nett 69 secured runner up place.
Lisa Stuart returned to the winner’s platform, leading the ladies event with a nett 76. As with the men’s comp, Lisa’s back nine was very good, a 44 for the back nine. Christine Hood was also in the mix and her nett 78 secured runner up for the ladies.
Gross score winners went to Scott Constable (77) for the men and Lisa Stuart (90) for the ladies. Putting honours were claimed by the day’s sponsor, Richard Reardon and Christine Hood for the ladies.
Men’s pin shots were claimed by Dustin Steele (Meadowbrook GC) at 3, Keith Jones at 12 and Keith Barnett at 17. No takers for the ladies at 3, Nikki Waterworth successful at 12 and Lyn Ludlow at 17. Pro-pins were won by visitor, Dustin Steele,1/10 and Matt Waterworth claimed the others at 5/14 and 9/18. Birdies’ nest at 2 was unclaimed.
The run down went to scores of nett 75 and better for the men and nett 79 and better for the ladies.
A couple of big golf days are in the near future, at the end of the month, the club is expecting visitors from Kilcoy for their annual trip to Stanthorpe and the next day is the ambrose event sponsored by Black Toyota of Warwick. Early warning of getting partners and teams organised for the weekend of golf.
Next Saturday (8 April) is a single stableford sponsored by club member, Simon Shannon. The time sheet is on the board at the club and tee off time from 11.30 am for the aternoon session.
