A clear and sunny day greeted golfers at Stanthorpe last Saturday to play in a stableford event sponsored by Dep’s Beautiful Nails and the club thanks her for the day. With minimal rain about for a few days, the course is beginning to get drier and some run returning to the fairways making everyone thankful.

Junior golfer, Hamish Adam, followed up his last week’s win with another solid display. Last Saturday, Hamish lasted out the countback for a win but this Saturday was clear cut with a score of 43 points, well clear of the field. His back nine was his best nine and yielded 24 points to his score.

Matt Burgess had a round two over par for 39 points and looked a likely winner but settled for the runner up prize.

The ladies’ event saw a return to the winner’s list for Lyn Ludlow after she returned a score of 36 points. Her back nine was very good and added 20 points to the final score. Could have been a couple better except for a pair of one pointers late in the round.

Two points further back was Marie Cook with a score of 34 points for runner up. Her score could also have been slightly better, a little grouping of one pointers in the middle of the back nine.

Runner up, Matt Burgess, had a field day in minor prizes, along the way collecting pro-pins at 1/10 and 5/14 and the birdies’ nest at hole 1. Hamish Adam added the 9/18 pro-pin to his winnings and Andrew Burgess collected in the run down.

Pins shots were won by Santo Cavallaro at 3, Angelo Maugeri at 12 and Ivan Juriss at 17, ladies’ pins went to Lorraine Evans at 12 and Marie Cook at 17. Lisa Stuart collected a run down prize for the ladies.

Next weekend is the club’s Open carnival, starting with a 4BBB stableford on Saturday. There will be a shot gun start for this and players are requested to be registered by 11.30 am for a 12.00 pm start. Sunday is a single stroke for men and a stableford for ladies and a time sheet is in operation. Players are again requested to be registered 20 minutes prior to their allocated tee time. Sponsors for the Open carnival again include Maddies Gift Gallery, City Golf Club and Tenterfield Golf Club.
