The team of Chris Binge and Max Smith were successful in winning last Saturday’s medley 4BBB stableford at Stanthorpe. Playing in the early morning cool conditions, they got off to a slow start but warmed to the task in the back nine which added 24 points to their final score of 43 points.
They did have to get through a countback with Len Leigh and Annelle Batterham who also had the same score. Len and Annelle carded 22 points on the back nine and this left them in runner up position.
The end of month event was sponsored by the Stanthorpe Community Bank and the club thanks them for their continuing sponsorship.
Alan Kerr collected the ticket for the pin shot at 3 and Barry Jones nearest at 12. No one collected the men’s pin at 17. The ladies’ pins were won by Lisa Stuart at 3, Marie Cook at 12 and Lisa Stuart again at 17. Pro-pins went to Rod Werner at 1/10, Matt Waterworth at 5/14 and Bill Pyne at 9/18.
41 points was a popular score for the run down with Cal Smith and Tod Beckett, Alan Kerr and Rod Werner, Viv and Neta Thouard and Matt Burgess and Barry Jones collecting.
The recent AGM of the club resulted in a new face on the board and some restructuring of committee personel. The club’s Board of Directors consists of Len Leigh (President), Kay Webb, Richard Reardon and newly elected Ian Pickering. The position of men’s captain has been filled with Mark Hendry taking on the task. Congratulations are in order to all of the above. Also, a big thankyou to now retired board member, Neta Thouard, for all the dedicated work done during her tenure on the Board.
Next Saturday is the June monthly medal and putting competition, an individual stroke event. Sponsor for the day is Stanthorpe Meats. Tee off at 11.00 am for the afternoon session and the time sheet is on the board at the club.
