Stanthorpe golfers played a stroke event on Saturday 4 November with competition to decide the winner of the Medal of Medallists. To be eligible, players needed to qualify by winning one of the monthly medal events in the previous twelve months. This year’s winners were Terry Roser who collected the Roy Carnell Memorial trophy and Lisa Stuart winner of the ladies’ event. Congratulations to the winners and appreciation to the sponsors, the Carnell family, for sponsoring the men’s event and to Tom and Trish Fittock for providing the trophies for the ladies event.

The day was also the first medal event for the next season with winners being the first to qualify for next year’s Medal of Medallists. Sponsor for the day was Poole’s Produce and we thank them for the continued sponsorship of the event.

The men’s event was won by Jarrod Irwin with a nett 68, one ahead of runner up, Wes Smith. Since returning to competition golf, Jarrod has been very consistent and fully deserves the win.

Best gross score on the day from Scott Constable with 74 and putting honours were shared by the winner, Jarrod Irwin and Matt Waterworth.

The ladies’ medal winner was Linda Kelly with a good score of nett 73 which was two ahead of the runner up, Lisa Stuart. As well, Lisa also had the best ladies’ gross score of 89 and least number of putts on the day.

Pin shots were won by Scott Constable at 3, Matt Waterworth at 12 and Megsy Irwin at 17. Ladies pins went to Lisa Stuart at 12 and Linda Kelly at 17. Pro-pins were awarded to Scott Constable, Barry Jones, Rod Paye, Nikki Waterworth, Lynette Ludlow and Linda Kelly.

For the run down, a voucher to Andy Burgess, Ivan Juriss, Scott Constable – all with nett 71, and Nikki Waterworth with nett 76 for the ladies.

Next Saturday, 11 November, is the M&D Auto Golf Day, a 2 person ambrose event sponsored by M&D Auto. Always a popular and a fun day of golf which attracts a good field. Players should arrange a partner and nominate as soon as possible before the time sheet fills out. Play will commence with a shot gun start at 12 noon. Players are requested to be registered by 11.40 am on the day.
