The March monthly medal and putting competition held last Saturday resulted in a win for Mark McCosker in both sections. Not only did he have lowest nett score of 69 but also the least number of putts for the day. With 15 greens needing only one putt, his total for the day was 21 putts. No doubt his putting stats did a lot to secure the win.

The best gross score of the day was from Scott Constable with 72 for his round. Scott also collected the runner up prize after the countback worked in his favour over Lyle Bryant and Eric Ree, all with nett 71. Lyle and Eric settled for a run down.

Others in the run down were Keith Jones (72) and Matt Burgess (72).

The ladies’ event also needed a countback to find a winner. Lyn Ludlow and Fiona Kelly both recorded a score of nett 76 for their round with Lyn having the better back nine and the win. Fiona secured runner up prize for her effort.

Best gross score for the ladies was the winner, Lyn Ludlow, with 98 needed for the round. Putting honours went to Tric Fittock with 26 putts for the round. Tric managed 10 holes where a one putt green was recorded.

The March monthly medal and putting competition was sponsored for the day being Beckett’s Pest Control and the club thanks Tod for the day and presenting the prizes at the end of competition.

With this round being the first of three for the Pike Trophy, low scorers for the day have an advantage. However, with another two rounds to be played and the worst round of the three to be discounted, still plenty of opportunity for the rest.

Upcoming events include the Maureen Bates Golf Day, a 2 ball ambrose this Sunday. The day is scheduled to commence with a shot gun start at 9.00 am with registration prior to this time, 8.30 am. Time sheet is on the board and the event is open to all.

The new machinery shed has quickly taken shape with progress being rapid after the foundations went down. The club expects an official opening of the facility on Saturday 27 March with the Mayor doing the honours.

Next Saturday is an individual stroke and second round for the Pike Trophy. Our sponsors for the day are Stephen and Sandy Kay. Time sheet for this event is also on the board with tee off from 11.30 am.
